The Theme: 1001 proverbs, 101 riddles

The aims: 1. The development of speech habits through proverbs & riddles;

2. To widen pupils' vocabulary, to practice oral speech;

3. The development of pupils' interest to English;

4. To show pupils knowledge which they have taken from the lessons.

Leader: Dear teachers and pupils! We congratulate you with the holiday of Kazakh language. We wish you success and good lucks. We hope that our country will be one of the 50 developed countries in the world. Our competition is devoted to Kazakh language. Our country is young. The capital of our country is Astana.

The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbaev during his speech to the students pointed out that our country wants to be among the fifty highly developed countries. Kazakhstan has all the opportunities and recourses.

The only problem we need educated, creative and smart specialties. That's why we must learn well. Our duty is to make our motherland powerful, highly developed and leading country in the world.

In 1989 on the 22^nd of September proclaimed "Kazakh is the language of the Republic of Kazakhstan". You are welcome to our Language party! Our mother tongue is the Kazakh language. But it is necessary and useful to learn a foreign language, that's why pupils have got such subject as foreign language at school. English is used not only in England, but also in the other parts of the world. We learn English, because it is the language of science, politics and computers.
Our game is about proverbs. We know that every nation has its proverbs. But their meanings are similar. I think you'll understand it later, in the process of our game.

The first round is "Say proverbs in English".
The second round is "Finish the Proverbs".

The third round is "Guess the Riddles, and say it in Kazakh, Russian and English"

The fourth round is "The winners competition".

The fifth round is "Completing the proverbs".
Now, let's invite our Proverb tellers. The first proverb teller is Aikorkem in 8^th grade. The second proverb teller is Shuga in 9^th grade. The third proverb teller is Shyryn in 11^th grade. (The players introduce themselves and speak a few words about themselves).
I. First round: "Say it in English"
Here I'll say the proverbs in Kazakh and you'll say its English equivalents. If our participants are ready. Let's start. Good luck.

(a good beginning makes a good ending)

II. Second round: "Finish the proverbs"
I'll read the beginning of the proverbs then you should finish it.

III. Third round: "Guess the riddles"
Now, let's invite the Riddlers. The first riddler is Asel in 8^th grade. The second riddler is Akniet in 9^th grade. The third riddler is Sagynysh in 10^th grade. (The players introduce themselves and speak a few words about themselves).

IV. Fourth round: "The winners competition"

The competition goes on. Let's invite our winners. The proverb tellers winner is _________ . The riddlers winner is __________ . In this round both of you I'll show you some pictures. The proverb teller must think proverbs using these pictures. And riddlers must say it in three languages. Is it all clear? Now, let's start.
