SCOTLAND

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland consists of four parts: England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. People who live in Scotland are the Scots. Their language is Scottish.

The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh. It is a big, old city with great history and traditions. Every year a lot of tourists come to Edinburgh. They visit Edinburgh Castle, the Cannongate and watch the military tattoo which takes place every August and September.

Glasgow is the largest and busiest city of Scotland. It's the heart of industry. It's a center of business and trade. It's very dirty and ugly in some parts and very beautiful in others. There is a port and a lot of busy streets in Glasgow.

The Scottish Highlands are famous for a large, deep freshwater lake Loch Ness. It is best known for the legendary Loch Ness Monster, also known as "Nessie".
