Anne of Green Gables

Scene 1.

Anne and Diana are sitting near the river (звучат голоса птиц).

Diana: Look, Anne! These flowers are lovely.

Anne: Oh, yes! I like it here so much. The woods are beautiful. I feel so happy near the river.

D: You know, Anne, you are my best friend. Minnie May is a funny little girl but it's boring to play with her all days long.

A: I see what you mean. But it's good to have a family. I'm an orphan and I was very unhappy at orphanage. Avonlea is a wonderful, friendly place. Green Gables has become my sweet home.

D: What about Marilla? She is very strict, isn't she?

A: She is but her heart is kind. I love Marilla and Matthew. They are my family!

D: And I'm sure, Anne, you will have more friends at school. I want you to like the other girls.

A: Oh, really, school starts tomorrow! Summer has been so nice but I am worried about the school. Are the boys good at school.

D: Of course, not. They are naughty. But there is one good boy. He is tall, handsome and very clever. All the girls like him. His name is Gilbert Blythe.

A: Ok. We'll see your prince tomorrow!

Scene 2

The children are in the classroom. Gilbert is sitting behind Anne. The girls are whispering.

The girl 1: Look! Gilbert has become taller after the summer/

The girl 2: And he is more handsome!

The girl 3: But Anne is not interested in Gilbert. Poor fish!

The girl 4:Anne is lucky, to sit next to Gilbert. I wish in her place!

(Звенит звонок. Все садятся за парты. Входит учитель)

Gilbert takes Anne's hair in his hand.

G. Carrots! Carrots! Carrots! Anne jumps to her feet.

A: I hate you! I hate you! She hits Gilbert on the head with her slate. The slate breaks.

Mr. Phillips runs to her.

Mr. Phillips: Anne Shirley, what are you doing? Answer me!

G: Anne didn't do anything wrong, Mr. Phillips, I was rude about her hair.

Mr.Ph: Anne, go and stand in front of the class!

Diana: Don't be angry with Gilbert, Anne. He laughs at my hair because it's very black.

A: Gilbert Blythe was very unkind. I'll never speak to Gilbert Blythe again!

(Звенит звонок)

Scene 3

Anne is late for the lesson. She has flowers in her hair.

Mr. Ph: Anne Shirley, you're late. Take those flowers out of your hair. Then go and sit with Gilbert Blythe.

A: A can't sit next to Gilbert. I hate him! She goes slowly and sits down next to Gilbert. She doesn't look at him. She puts her head on her arms.

G: Anne, don't be angry with me. I was stupid yesterday. Let's be friends! He pushes some candy under Anne's arm Ann takes the candy and throws it on the floor.

A: Never! I'm not coming to school again.

Don't worry, friends!

At the end of the book Gilbert and Ann will be good friends!
