Good afternoon, dear students. I'm very glad to see you. How are you today? Let's begin our lesson.

II.

Today we begin the new theme. Different numbers, counts, prices, dates are surrounding us. Do you agree? That is why it is important for us to learn to use them in our English speech. According to this aim we must to understand the rules of building the Numerals in English. So, at first our task for today will be to get acquainted with the theory and then to use this knowledge in practice. But we'll do it in interesting way. Do you like games? Would you like to play today? Ok, let's begin then.

III.

You know that there are many proverbs in Russian, in which we use different numbers. Englishmen also have many interesting proverbs. Look at the screen, please. Let's read and try to translate them.

All for one and one for all.

When three know it, all know it.

Measure thrice and cut once. -

To be on cloud nine. -

Two heads are better than one. -

And now open your copybooks and put down the date and our theme - the Numerals.

There are two groups of numerals in English as in Russian: Cardinal Numerals - количественные числительные and Ordinal Numerals - порядковые числительные.

I'm very proud of you! You are great mathematicians!

And now let's play a game! We'll need two participants. Look at the blackboard. You can see here different numbers. Take chalk. I will pronounce this numbers, your task is to find and to strike them out. If you will pronounce the numbers wright, you will receive cards.

Is everything clear? Do you have any questions?

And I would like to suggest you another game. Do you know such a game as Loto? (Приложение №1) Let's play it. All members of our group will receive special tickets with numbers. And one of you (we'll do it in chain) will take a barrel from the pocket and call the number on it, call it as an ordinal number. If it is the number from you card, strike it down. And at the end of the lesson we'll count this cards and put marks.

At home please try to do the following exercises in written form.

Dear students, let us revise what we have done at the lesson. We have discussed the rules of building up the numerals in English. Say me once again please, what two groups of numerals are there in English?

Students: Cardinal Numerals and Ordinal Numerals.

Teacher: And how do we build up ordinal numerals?

Students: We must use "the" and add -th to cardinal numerals.

Teacher: You are right! Thank you! And now how many cards did you get for your job? Good! Your marks are …

Thank you for your work at the lesson! Good bye!
