KET pretesting speaking lesson

KET PRETESTING SPEAKING LESSON

  1. Warm -up

Hello! How are you? Etc.

  1. Setting the aim

Today we'll practice KET speaking tasks i.e. asking and answering personal questions and asking for information about any event.

  1. Task 1. Answering personal questions.

Get SS into groups of 3, 4 or 5. Give them the strips of paper with questions. They should be piled in the middle face down. Set the time of 4-5 min. The student takes the strip, reads the question and the other student answers. They do it in turns. They are given limited time and they must answer as many questions as they can. The group having the most answers is the winner. The teacher should monitor the groups.

The students are not allowed to give only Yes or No answers, they must answer at least in two or three words.

  1. Task 2. Asking for information.

  1. Get SS into groups of 4 with the help of words. The SS get the cards with the words, stand up, come up to each other and ask what they have got in the picture or what there is in the picture. They form the groups according to the word groups. They must guess. There must be something in common (e.g. pictures of clothes, fruit or other things)

  2. The groups are given the following task: you are to think of any event that you must organize. Answer the following questions: What event? When? Where? Date? Time? Who is it for? Price? Tel number? Some additional information? Every SS in the group should have the information. 5-7 min.

  3. Now get the SS into pairs.

They are to ask for information and any details according to the questions on the board:

WHAT EVENT? WHERE? DATE? PRICE? TIME? MORE INFORMATION?

Then they change the roles.

  1. Ask the SS: What event would you like to visit?

  2. FEEDBACK; ask the SS if the tasks were difficult for them.
