ЦЕЛИ МЕРОПРИЯТИЯ:

1. Расширять словарный запас учащихся по теме "Holidays".

2. Развивать умения и навыки учащихся, использовать новую и старую лексику в устном высказывании.

3. Развивать логическое мышление и внимание учащихся.

Material: prompt words and word-combinations, drawings and pictures on the topic "Summer Holidays".

PROCEDURE

The teacher chooses a place for spending summer holidays (the Crimea, the countryside, the student's camp and so on) and explains that the pupils have the opportunity to go there for a free holiday. To show they are worthy of the opportunity they must explain what they will do if they go there.

Each student must make a sentence which begins with the previous sentence.

The teacher can first review the main action verbs and holiday vocabulary wing pictures or drawings on the topic "Summer Holidays" (prompt words and drawings go up on the blackboard).

The teacher then asks a pupil to begin, prompting if necessary.

P: If I go to the Crimea, I'll go to the Black Sea.

If I go to the Black Sea, I'll lie in the sun all day long.

If I lie in the sun all day long, I'll become tanned.

T: If I become tanned, I'll get more attractive.

S: If I get more attractive, I'll make new friends.

If I make new friends, I'll become more sociable.

If I get more sociable, I'll be happier.

The teacher should pick pupils at random to make sure that everyone follows.

There are 4 rules of this game:

1) Each pupil must begin the sentence with the second half of the previous one.

2) Each pupil has to produce sentences without any stop.

3) If a pupil gets stuck for ideas or makes a mistake, another pupil is chosen.

4) The winner is the last pupil who has the most ideas and didn't stop or stuck.

The winner can choose a half of a group as members of his (her) team, the rest of the group is the second team.

• Two teams are going to travel. They should put the words from the box into word net and make a short story about their summer holidays. Cover all the points from the word net.
