Aims of the lesson:

Educational: Work on grammar material (degrees of adjectives) and vocabulary.

Master new lexics and its use in speech.

Developing: Develop reading, writing and speaking habits and skills.

Enlarge pupils' word - stock.

Bringing up: Bring up pupils' interest by doing exercises.

  1. The new theme. "Biggest and best"

Today our lesson will be unusual because we'll play the game ''The Golden Gate".

Do you know this game? Have you ever heard about it?

It has three doors and the golden box (a magic box).

Now we'll try to remember the degrees of adjectives. (Positive, comparative, superlative). Let's remember the forms of comparative adjectives. We use suffixes

-er, the -est; more, the most, better, the best, worse, the worst. But before beginning our lesson let's read today's lesson's slogan.

Good, better, best

Never, never rest

Till your good is better

And your better best.

Let's read all together. By the way, it's also the slogan of English pupils. Now, we've read our slogan and I wish you good luck. Let's begin.

Doing the tasks.

  • Now look at the board. The first door is a stone door. It has some tasks.

If we do them, the door will open.

Task 1. Write comparative degree of adjectives.

I want to give you some riddles.

  1. I am gray. My tail is long. My nose is short. I am very little. (a mouse)

  2. I am the biggest. I am gray. My nose is the longest. My tail is short. (an elephant)

  3. I have got the longest neck but a short tail. I am the tallest. (a giraffe)

There is a golden door left.

Let's see the first task.

Task 1. Ex.9, p.85. Let's read a dialogue between a lion, a mother lion and a cat.

Let's write out adjectives from the dialogue.

Now let's speak about this dialogue.

  • Do you think the little lion is right?

  • Does little lion understand what the cat says?

  • What animal do you think is the strongest, fastest, best?

  • Does this proverb suit this situation: Better late than never. - Лучше поздно, чем никогда. - Ештен кеш жақсы.

Never later to know. Remember, never say as little lion.

  • Pupils, here are some proverbs with adjectives. Let's translate them.

  1. Good health is better than wealth.

  2. Two heads are better than one.

  3. East or west, home is best.

Task 2. I want to give you pictures of animals. Describe them using adjectives.

We've opened the golden door.

There is a magic box.

Let's see what it contains.

Here is your hometask and your marks: gold and silver stones. Gold is excellent, silver is good.
