Ролевая игра At the Trial

Ролевая игра - это речевая, игровая и учебная деятельности одновременно. С точки зрения учащихся, ролевая игра - это игровая деятельность в процессе которой они выступают в разных ролях. Учебный характер игры ими часто не осознается. С позиций учителя ролевую игру можно рассматривать как форму обучения диалогическому общению. Для учителя цель игры - формирование и развитие речевых навыков и умений учащихся. Ролевая игра управляема , ее учебный характер четко осознается учителем.

Что касается видов ролевых игр, то их можно условно разделить на две основные группы:

- контролируемая ролевая игра;

- свободная ролевая игра.

Контролируемая ролевая игра является более простым видом, может быть построена на основе диалога или текста. В первом случае учащиеся знакомятся с базовым диалогом и отрабатывают его. Затем совместно с учителем они обсуждают содержание диалога и необходимую лексику. После этого учащимся предлагается составить свой вариант диалога, опираясь на базовый и используя предложенные опоры. Новый диалог может быть похож на базовый, но в нем необходимо использовать другое наполнение, другую форму вопросов, ответов, диалог этот может быть длиннее или короче базового. Кроме того, учитель может давать по мере необходимости инструкции по ходу ролевой игры.

Вторым видом контролируемой ролевой игры является ролевая игра на основе текста. В этом случае после знакомства с текстом учитель может предложить одному из учеников сыграть роль какого-либо персонажа из текста, а другим ученикам - взять у него интервью. Причем ученики-репортеры могут задавать не, только те вопросы, ответы на которые есть в тексте, но и любые другие, интересующие, а ученик, исполняющий роль персонажа может проявить свою фантазию при ответах на эти вопросы. Как и в первом случае, учитель может давать инструкции и помогать учащимся по ходу ролевой игры.

Что касается свободной ролевой игры, при ее проведении сами учащиеся должны решать, какую лексику им использовать и как будет развиваться действие. Учитель называет тему ролевой игры, а затем просит учащихся составить различные ситуации, затрагивающие разные аспекты темы. На уроке английского языка изучаем тему "Travelling. At the customs"(На основе материалов учебника Project 3 OUP). У действующих лиц произошел неприятный инцидент на таможне: у одного из персонажей обнаружили наркотики. Его арестовал полиция, и провела расследование. Задача: провести ролевую игру «Заседание суда», в результате которой каждый игрок получил карточку с заданием.

Role-play "At the Trial"

Judge: The police have arrested a drug smuggler, Jim Carlson. He told the police that he had given a parcel to a young Canadian who was travelling to England. He said that there was heroin in the parcel. So Jim Carlson is charged for drug smuggling. The police found Jim Carlson's and Matt Swanson's fingerprints on the parcel. Here are witnesses for prosecutions.

Sue Gibson: I swear to speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I started 'Canterbury Holidays' with my brother Andrew because we've always wanted to travel. Last year we did all the work ourselves. This year we wanted some extra help. So we put an advertisement in the newspaper. Matt Swanson is our van driver.

Patrick: When did you see the parcel?

Sue: At customs in Dover.

Patrick: Did you ask Matt Swanson about it?

Sue: Yes, he said that an Australian guy had given it to him and he had found Matt's wallet.

Judge: Thank you.

The customs officer: I swear to speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. I asked the young Canadian to show his parcel. He said yes and I opened it and found some bags of heroin there. Then I called the police.

Judge: Thank you.

Matt Swanson: I swear to speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Patrick: Where did you meet this man?

Matt Swanson: I meet him in a café in Paris.

Patrick: How did you meet him?

Matt Swanson: He found my wallet.

Patrick: What was his name?

Matt Swanson: He said his name was Jim Carlson.

Patrick: Why was he in Paris?

Matt Swanson: He said he had lived in Paris for three years.

Patrick: What did he say about the parcel?

Matt Swanson: He said it was for some friends in England, but it would be too heavy to past.

Patrick: What did you tell him?

Matt Swanson: I told him we were going to England and that we could take it for him.

Patrick: What did he say?

Matt Swanson: He said that would be very helpful.

Patrick: What did you say?

Matt Swanson: I said it would be no trouble, because he had found my wallet.

Patrick: He probably stole you wallet, so that would take the parcel for him. It's an old trick.

Matt Swanson: Oh, I've been very stupid, haven't I?

Judge: Thank you.

The Police Inspector: We have investigated the case. We found forty bags of heroin in the parcel. We went to the address on the parcel. We found two men there and we have arrested them for drug smuggling. Matt Swanson is probably innocent - but he has been very stupid. Drug trafficking is a serious offence.

Judge: Thank you.

Jim Carlson: I swear to speak the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

Patrick: What's your name?

Jim Carlson: My name's Jim.

Patrick: What's your surname?

Jim Carlson: My surname is Carlson.

Patrick: Where are you from?

Jim Carlson: I'm from Australia.

Patrick: Where do you live?

Jim Carlson: I live in Paris.

Patrick: What do you do?

Jim Carlson: I work for the North Australia bank.

Patrick: Where did you see Matt Swanson?

Jim Carlson: At the café.

Patrick: What did you give him?

Jim Carlson: A parcel.

Patrick: Did Matt Swanson agree to take the parcel?

Jim Carlson: Yes, he did.

Patrick: Why did he do that?

Jim Carlson: I pretended to find his wallet.

Patrick: What was there in the parcel?

Jim Carlson: There was heroin there

Patrick: Do you know that possessing and trafficking illegal drugs is forbidden?

Jim Carlson: Yes, I do.

Patrick: Do you confess that you are guilty?

Jim Carlson: Yes, I do.

Judge: Jim Carlson is accused for drug smuggling of 40 bags of heroin. He has broken the law. So the verdict is guilty: I sentence Jim Carlson to 2 years in prison. Next, please.
