The Festival of song "The strings of the soul"

Every year singers, songwriters, poets and romantics from all over Russia come to the Don. They put tents, make bonfires, sing songs. The first festival "The strings of the soul" took place in 1999 in stanitsa Romanovskaya. It was organized in honour of the 200 anniversary of the birth of the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin. The geography of the Festival is wide. The participants are bards, professional, amateur talent groups and individual performers from Krasnodar and Stavropol territories, Rostov, Volgograd, Voronezh, Astrakhan, Moscow and Sverdlovsk, Ukraine and Kazakhstan, Germany, Spain and Ireland, the republics of Dagestan, Kalmykia and many others.

An opening ceremony of the Festival takes place on Thursday.

On Friday workshops perform their work during the day. The highlight of the Festival is a holiday "A friendly family of nationalities". National cultures, costumes, cuisine, the exhibition of art works and museum exhibits are displayed here. The heart of the Festival is a tent camp. There are creative workshops, concerts with major nominations: author, performer, patriotic song. In the evening there is a concert on the big stage after which a fire breaks out. It is an important attribute of the Festival. Organizers of the Festival always prepare surprises for the participants and guests, a great number of entertainments for children and adults.

The sports programme includes football and volleyball, a parade of yachts and boats, an air show of aviation Club, riding on small vessels on the River Don, hot air balloon rides and much more.

The final day of the Festival is Saturday. There is a great concert of the winners on the large stage. The award ceremony is at 8 p.m. It's hard to describe the joy of victory. Beautiful fireworks in honor of the winners of the festival flash in the sky.
