Тема урока: Welcome to the Mysterious Baikal

Цель урока: развитие лингвокультурологической и коммуникативной компетенций, позволяющие осуществлять иноязычное общение на основе регионального компонента.

Задачи: 1. Образовательная - развитие лексико-грамматического навыка по теме «Байкал»

2. Развивающая - развитие мышления, творческий способностей учащихся, формирование навыков обобщения и анализа.

3. Воспитательная - воспитание понимания важности изучения английского языка как средством общения в современном мире; воспитание чувства любви к родине.

4. Практическая - развитие всех видов речевой деятельности: говорение, письмо, чтение, аудирование.

Оборудование: проектор, карточки с заданием.

Ход урока:

1. Организационный момент.

Good morning, everybody. Welcome to our lesson, devoted to our mysterious Baikal. Today you'll learn more about this lake, its geographical facts, its flora and fauna and the pollution of the environment. We are sure you'll feel pride for it and prove anybody, that it is the most wonderful lake in the world. We hope, you'll like the presentation about this lake.

Be attentive and active. Take part in discussion.

At the end of our lesson we'll suggest you text to know your reflex.

Слайд 4: Geographical Facts - Baikal is the deepest lake on Earth. Baikal - is a mountain lake, its level is higher than the level of the World Ocean by 445 meters. About 1 thousand rivers flow into Baikal and one river Angara flows out. The average temperature in December is -27 to -39°C, in Irkutsk -25 to -27°C, on the shores of Baikal - 12 to -27°C. In summer, when it is +25°C and more in Irkutsk, it is +15 - +18°C on Baikal.

Слайд 5: Fauna - There are more than 1550 kinds of animals, 50 species of fish and 300 species of birds.

Слайд 7: Barguzin sables have always been considered the greatest wealth of the lake Baikal area. They are beautiful and strong, especially near the lake and in places where it is colder. Their shimmering dark fur stands out for its silkiness.

Слайд 8: In Baikal you can find a sea animal- seal (it's Baikal seal). It has beautiful fur and its fat has medicinal qualities.

Слайд 10: Do you know about the famous Baikal fish? Certainly it's omul. But omul came from the ocean. The Baikal omul lives 5-14 years. For its reproduction the omul swims up the tributaries of Baikal: the upper Angara, the Kichera, the Selenga and other small rivers.

Слайд 11: There is a mysterious self-bearing fish - golomyanka. It throws 2-3 thousands of larvae into the water and perishes. Its body is without scales. Its body is transparent and in light you can see its skeleton. The golomyanka's body consists of 3% of fat. And it is used in the Tibetan medicine.

Слайд 14: Flora - the taiga expanses surrounding Lake Baikal are famous for fur-bearing animals, such as squirrels, sables, stoats, minks, foxes, hares and others. In the taiga in the vicinity of Baikal you can meet bears, the lynx and the Siberian reindeer.

Слайд 18: Zabaikalsky National Park - The southern part of the Barguzin Range is protected by both Barguzinsky Reserve and Zabaikalsky National Park. Barguzinsky Reserve, founded in December of 1916, is one of the oldest reserves (nature preserves) in Russia. This park protected 39 varieties of mammals, 220 kinds of birds, 4 species of reptiles, and about 30 types of fish and numerous invertebrates. Among the protected mammals, are the sable, brown bear, wolf, lynx, fox, otter, ermine, elk, reindeer, caribou, and musk deer.

4. Последемонстрационный этап.

На проектной доске появляется текст к презентации, где учащиеся должны вставить подходящие по смыслу слова (закрепление и отработка лексических единиц по теме «Байкал»)

После выполненного задания дети сравнивают свои ответы с правильными.

В конце работы детям предлагается ответить на вопросы:

What is the lake's capacity?

What makes Baikal unique?

What is the most famous Baikal fish, animal, bird, plant?

What can you tell about Baikal seal?

What can you tell us about Barguzin sables?

What can you tell about the pollution of Lake Baikal?

What animals are under special protection in the Lake Baikal area?

5. Завершающий этап. (Подведение итогов, домашнее задание)

To sum up, your results are good, thank you for your work. And tell me please what do you like most of all during our lesson?

At home you must write down a short article about Lake Baikal.
