We cannot imagine our life without books. They play a very important role in our lives.

Books are our friends. We meet them when we are very small and cannot read, but we remember the pictures from them, we remember our mothers reading them to us. Besides, we learn very much from books.

It is true that books educate people in different spheres of life. They develop our imagination, make us think and analyze and they can help form our character and our world outlook. More over, books can help us to get self-educated and solve problems and can make our life more interesting.

Books not only teach us, they also stir our imagination, expend the boundaries of the familiar world, and fill our life with great expectations of joy and happiness. They give us a unique chance to link up with people of the past. Thanks to books we can talk to people who lived in different ages and countries. With their help we cannot only look into the past but also foresee the future. A book is a faithful and undemanding friend: it can be put aside and taken up at any moment. We can learn a lot of useful and interesting things about the world we live in.

There are different kinds of books. Children like to read fairy tales, fables and short stories. Many people are generally fond of historical novels, adventure books and science fiction or detectives. Nowadays thousands of books are published every year in numerous publishing houses. There is no problem to find a good book. Several book-shops, libraries, reading halls and the internet are at reader's disposal.
