Урок «Олимпийские игры. Звездный час»

Тема урока: «Олимпийские игры. Звёздный час».

Данный урок является тематическим и связан с повторением пройденного материала в 10 классе средней общеобразовательной школы. Он может быть рекомендован для проведения в рамках недели английского языка или школьного « Английского клуба».

Составлен с учётом методических рекомендаций и требований, предъявляемых к организации развивающих уроков. В основе урока - дидактический материал, необходимый для развития познавательного интереса, критического мышления и общеучебных навыков по английскому языку на старшей ступени обучения. За каждый правильный ответ участники игры получают звезду. В конце игры капитаны команд пересчитывают «звёзды» и победитель определяется на основе большего количества полученных звёзд.

Цели урока:

- развивать навыки говорения в диалогической и монологической форме на основе темы «Олимпийские игры» с опорой на зрительную наглядность;

- активизировать в речи изученную грамматическую конструкцию Past Indefinite Passive, необходимую для выражения действии в страдательном залоге.

Ход урока:

Первый этап работы (подготовительный):

The teacher says :

Now we should speak about the Olympic Games and different kinds of sports. Will you come to the blackboard and choose one star you like. Then you should take your seat at the table according the color of the star you have chosen and the color of the star standing at your table. Dear students, you should try to think a little about the name and the motto in order to tell them everybody in our classroom. In 7 minutes you are welcome to the blackboard and try to write down them here. When two teams are made we are able to start our game. You can see the box with the stars on my table. For each correct answer you should be awarded with a star. At the very end of the game your leaders of the teams will count all of the stars you have received during the game and we should define the winner of our competition.

Will you try to read and to understand the text given to you on the screen. I would like you to be ready to ask your partners from the other team about what they have read in the text about. Will you write down on the sheet of paper 7 questions and show them to the other group of your classmates. In order to have the star you should pronounce your question aloud and choose any person from the other team so that they could answer these questions. You have got some English words from the text below with the Russian equivalents:

Olympic games is the most important complex competition which was firstly held in ancient Greece and organized once a four- year period of time. Summer Olympic games were started in 1894. This tradition was renewed in the end of the 19 century by the Frenchman, Pierre de Coubertin. Para - Olympic games for disabled people are held in two weeks after the Olympic games. It was a sporty and a religious competition that took place in Olympia, in Greece. There is no exact information about ancient games, but it is well known that a lot of myths about them are kept in the history. The Greeks worshiped healthy and strong body. Today we can see the sculptures, the documents and the constructions in the Greece museums which are considered to be memorable signs for people. All of them have a nice form and impress the spectators very much.

The winners were treated as the winners at war. Heraclius is considered to be the first organizer of the Olympic games in 776 BC. All fighting and wars were prohibited during the games.

The first modern games are known to have been held in 1894, APHINS. The International Olympic games Committee was established in order to organize those international games. Baron Pierre de Coubertin was appointed as the general secretary of this committee. Only 214 sportsmen from 14 different countries participated in that competition.

The place of this competition is defined by MOC. Games should be held for 16-18 days. The unit of five rings symbolizing the unity of 5 world parts on the earth is known as the symbol of the Olympic games.

In the upper part of the Olympic flag the rings traditionally are of blue, black and red color. In the low row they are yellow and green. Motto of this competition is Citius, Altius, Fortius . The flag reminds a white breadth with the Olympic Rings which is lifted each time at the very beginning of the games. Traditionally at the ceremony of the games begins with the parade of the delegation from Greece.

Венок из лавровых листьев был почетной наградой чемпиона. А теперь, трудно сказать - почему то ли листа лаврового мало, то ли по какой - то иной причине, - от этого обычая осталось лишь слово «лауреат».
С древнейших времен ветви лавра символизировали отличия в искусстве и спорте. Лавровым венком награждали победителей в поэтических, музыкальных и спортивных состязаниях, в частности победителей Олимпийских игр. Вечнозеленый, он был эмблемой бессмертия. По древним легендам Лавр был посвящён Аполлону, также по легендам мы можем узнать, как создался миф о Дафне; в пифийских играх лавровый венок был наградой победителю, и им же награждали «любимцев Аполлона» - поэтов. Этим отношением между Аполлоном и лавром объясняется и приписывание лавру пророческого дара: его ели жрецы, чтобы узнать будущее (лавроеды). Существовало также убеждение, что лавр спасает от молнии. Лавровый венок на гербе Греции. Великий правитель Рима - Цезарь носил лавровый венок, как символ своей безграничной власти.

Во времена античности лавровыми венками венчали головы победителей и правителей. Во время жертвоприношений головы жрецов украшали венками лавра, а в особые праздничные дни обычный люд украшал свои головы лавровыми венками.

Согласно греческим мифам лавр считался атрибутом солнечного бога Аполлона.

Аполлон

Аполлон преследовал нимфу Дафну и она попросила богов сделать так, чтобы Аполлон больше не преследовал ее. Но боги Дафну превратили в лавровое дерево. Именно поэтому Аполлон связан с лавровым деревом.

Традиция вручать лавровый венок победителям берет свое начало с Пифийских игр - это своего рода олимпийские игры поэтов, которые посвящены Аполлону, а как известно Аполлон покровительствовал поэтам. Пифийские игры включали несколько дисциплин: воспевание гимна Аполлону, игра на флейте, театральное искусство и живопись. Победителю во всех дисциплинах вручался лавровый венок, что считалось самой почетной наградой в Греции. Лавровый венок на гербе Греции. What is this sportsman doing by means of this object?

The Model: I can see the racket in the sportsman's hands. It is used for playing tennis. The sportsman is able to pass the ball to his partner.

The teacher says:

You are given some pictures. Try to guess the English equivalent when listening the speaker. Be ready to write down this word in English, near the picture.

The speaker says:

1. It doesn't sound as a rocket, it doesn't rush like this one to the space. But it is a necessary object in the sport, which daily can take place.

2. It does not help to have a goal, it sounds ordinary………

3. It is worn by trainee, referee or sportsman. It is usually taken by the sporty people. It is not shoe, it is not boot. But any game is not played without it.

4. These objects are old-fashioned things but all the sportsmen will be happy to use them all for their games and feel themselves handsome or pretty.

5. These objects are observed in football: the first is able to be kicked. The second is the place for game, the third is for goalkeeper needed.

6. These ones were mentioned a bit above, it can be called " the sportsmen's love".

7. It is used by referee in the court, in the boxing match and another sport.

8. Look at the following objects, please, if you are a good hockey player, you remember this:

• they are sharp to be the first;

• it is needed to make a score in the referee list;

• it is round like a ball but it is needed for the goal;

• it is safety to play in it;

• it is the place to be defended;

• people like to use then in winter, to go down from the hill;

• this clothes is often used in order not to be sick or ill;

• if the sun is very bright use it and it will be right;

The teacher says:

Look at the blackboard. Will you read aloud the English proverb about the sport, try to translate them into Russian and explain each of them in the own words according to the model:

Model: I think that it is right/ correct/wrong because only healthy people can go in for sports.

A sound mind in a sound body.
After dinner sit a while, after supper walk a mile.
The best of the sport is to do the deed and to say nothing.
In sports and journeys men are known.
It's not whether you win or lose that matters, it's how you play the game.

Let's make a conclusion . What have you known at the lesson? Tell us about it one by one. Our time is up. We should count your stars. Dear leaders of the teams, you are welcome here. Who has become the winner? When the stars are counted, both of the teams should be awarded with the medals for the desire to play and to win.
