I. Организационный момент

Morning Boys and girls! Glad to see you! Who is on duty today?

Today we shall finish our theme " The World's Best Friend Is You". But at first let's do phonetic exercises.

Yesterday I saw a terrible film and I want to show it to you.

What is this film about (it's about pollution )

Is it a dangerous problem? (yes, it is)

What kind of problem is it? (it's an ecological problem)

What do you mean? (it's pollution of water, air and land)

III.

Let's discuss the pollution of the environment. Open you textbooks on page 43 exercise 12 and answer my questions according to the text Look at our world without environmental problems. Is it beautiful?

And now please, find the place in the text where we can read about water pollution.

Let's prove this information by different facts.( раздаю текст "Water pollution")

Read this text to yourself by 2-3 minutes. What facts about water pollution can you find here?

1. The Pacific Ocean has suffered from nuclear pollution because French government tests nuclear weapon there.

2. Britain alone dumps 250 000 tons of industrial waste straight into the North Sea.

3. There is not enough oxygen in the water.

4. Many seas are used for dumping industrial and nuclear waste.

5. Factories and plants produce a lot of waste and pour it into the rivers.

IV.

That's good. Now listen to me. I'm speaking about the problems of water pollution. Listen to me and say if you agree or disagree with me. Look at the text.( предполагаемые ответы учеников - в скобках)

1. The Pacific Ocean doesn't suffer from nuclear pollution. (I disagree, the Pacific Ocean especially has suffered from the nuclear pollution because French government tests nuclear weapon there)

2. Many seas are not used for dumping waste. (I disagree, many seas are used for dumping industrial and nuclear waste)

3. Britain doesn't dumps waste into the sea. (I disagree, Britain alone dumps 250.000 tons of industrial waste straight into the North Sea)

4. So there is no ocean or sea which is not used as a dump. (I agree, there is no ocean or sea which is not used as a dump)

5. But rivers and lakes are not poisoned. (I disagree, many rivers and lakes are poisoned too. Fish and reptiles can't live in them there is not enough oxygen in the water)

6. Factories and plants don't produce a lot of waste. (I disagree, factories and plants produce a lot of waste and pour it into the rivers. So they poison the water)

7. But factories use clean water. (I agree, factories use clean water)

8. After the water is used it doesn't become poison. (I disagree, after the water is used it becomes poison which goes back into the rivers, lakes and seas)

Well, you are right. I see, it is a very serious and dangerous problem. I'm going to send a letter to the United Nations Organization. But I have some problems. My computer missed some words. Please, help me to complete my letter. Turn on the texts and complete sentences using the text.

 Unfortunately there is no ocean or sea which is not used as _________.

 The Pacific Ocean, especially, has suffered from the nuclear pollution because French Government tests ___________there.

 Many seas and oceans are used for dumping industrial and nuclear _______.

 Britain alone dumps 250.000 tons of ___________waste straight into the North Sea.

 Many rivers and lakes are __________too.

 There is not enough _________ in the water.

 Factories and Plants __________a lot of waste and pour it into the rivers. (ответы: a dump, nuclear weapon, waste, industrial, poisoned, oxygen, produce.)

Well done! Now we can send our letter to the United Nations organization. Please, give me your works.

VI.

Now I want you to work in group 4 or 3.

I group will be - School Green Peace.

II group will be - Town Green Peace.

III group will be - International Green Peace.

Now let's think how can you solve the ecological problems. I will divide you into 3 groups: school Green Peace, Town Green Peace and international Green Peace. Each group should choose right statements for their green peace organizations.

Children, do you think we have any ecological problems in our region? Look at the board and choose the right sentences.

VII.

What have we learnt today? What have we done today?

VIII.

Find some information about air pollution

IX.

Water pollution

"Water, water everywhere, not any drop to drink," said the sailor from the Coleridge's poem describing to a friend how awful it was to be without any drinking water on a ship in the middle of the ocean. It is strange to think that the water around his ship was probably quite safe to drink. It was salty - but not polluted. The sea waters today are much more dangerous.

There is no ocean or sea which is not used as a dump. The Pacific Ocean, especially, has suffered from nuclear pollution because the French Government tests nuclear weapon there. Many seas are used for dumping industrial and nuclear waste. Britain alone dumps 250.000 tons of industrial waste straight into the North Sea. This poisons and kills fish and sea animals. "Nuclear-poisoned" fish can be eaten by people.

Many rivers and lakes are poisoned too. Fish and reptiles can't live in them. There is not enough oxygen in the water. In such places all the birds leave their habitats and many plants die. If people drink this water they can die too. It happens so because factories and plants produce a lot of waste and pour it into the rivers. So they poison the water. Factories use clean water. After the water is used it becomes poison which goes back into rivers, lakes and seas.
