A.

I used to baby-sit for my mother's friend Jane, and one afternoon she rang our house and my mother answered the telephone as usual. Jane asked my mother if she could go and ask me whether I could baby-sit for her two children that evening. I wasn't sitting far away from my mother at that time,so I could tell what she was going to say to me and when she did, I said " No, I'm sick and tired of sitting there all night looking after those whiney babies, tell her that you thought I was in but really I had gone out and that you would ask me later on".

I didn't realize just how close the telephone was and that Jane had heard everything I had just said to my mother. So when my mother went back to the phone to answer,Jane had already hung up! Luckily, we explained everything by saying that I was in a bad mood, and, thank goodness, my mother is still on speaking terms with her,but I don't have to baby-sit anymore!

B.

Imagine this, you're in an exam, a Maths one. After a long hour of working in silence you have finished and with everyone around still working you decide to sit there playing with your pencil.

So there I am, fiddling with my pencil and suddenly it jumps out of my hands and falls on the floor. Bang,bang,bang...! That's what I felt like! Now this pencil hadn't just fallen on the floor, right next to me, no it must have been at least 50cm away. How embarrassing! I even saw a person look up from their test-paper to see what was happening. Yes, they paused to see what was happening, and it was in a test. Well, eventually a teacher got there and picked up the pencil, placed it on my desk and walked away again.

C.

I used to walk around school with my thoughts usually a million miles away from Algebra and irregular verbs. And I was in one of my dazes when I walked into my classroom and DIDN'T NOTICE that someone was sitting on my chair. Yes, I know it's unbelievable! And I just pulled it out behind the table, throwing the person sitting there into a heap on the floor. Of course it couldn't just have been a member of my class. Oh no! It had to be Mrs Lewis, the dreaded Textiles teacher with a very very bad temper. And there she was lying on the floor, her skirt up and her legs apart. And I was the one who put her there! Oh, the shame! She should have been the one more embarrassed, but it was me who turned a shocking red.
