Цели:

1. Познакомить учащихся с творчеством популярной английской группы "Битлз".

2. Активизировать познавательную деятельность учащихся, расширить их кругозор.

3. Развить интерес учащихся к культурному наследию Великобритании.

Подготовка: презентации о творчестве группы "Битлз", видеофрагменты на компьютере, разучивание песен, предварительная работа с ведущими, изучение материалов о группе на уроках , самостоятельное знакомство учащихся с литературой, журналами, интернет ресурсами о Битлз.

Фотографии группы и ее участников

Ход мероприятия

The 16^th of January - the International Day of the Beatles.

Вступительное слово учителя:

Good afternoon, dear guests! We are happy to see all of you at our party. It is a fantastic date today - January, the 16^th. According to the decision of UNESCO the 16-th of January was announced the International Day of the Beatles from the year 2001. And we are here today because we love the Beatles.

Your mothers and fathers grew up with their songs and enjoyed their songs. We hope you will also like them. Music is the greatest thing which unites people all over the world.

Ведущий 1:

The Beatles to this day are one of the most famous and popular rock'n'roll groups in the world. The group shattered many sales records and had more than fifty top hit singles. The Beatles started a new era of music. Their music was unusual because most rock was strong beat with no melody, and they added melody to the rock. The Beatles also added strong and meaningful lyrics.

What are their names? You're right. The group included George Harrison,

John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and Richard Starkey (Ringo Starr).

John Lennon was the leader of the band, one of the two lead singers, the rhythm guitarist and a song writer.

Paul McCartney was a song writer, one of the two lead singers, and a bassist.

George Harrison was the lead guitarist.

Ringo Starr played the drums.

But how did it all start?

The Beatles were discovered on November 9, 1961 by Brian Epstein, a manager of a record store in Liverpool. The Beatles early music was influenced by singers Bob Dilan, Chuck Berry and Elvis Presley.

After a while their own musical ideas started to emerge, and their music developed from naive and simple to sophisticated. The group changed pop-music forever. From their first single "Love Me Do" in 1962, people recognized something different in their music than the usual pop-songs at the time.

The Beatles starred in two feature films, A Hard Days Night, which earned 1.3 million dollars in its first week, and Help. They also had their own full length cartoon called Yellow Submarine.

In 1964 The Beatles came to New York City for the first time and were an instant success. A couple of weeks later after their New York appearance, the five best selling records were by The Beatles; they became world-famous.

They introduced a new style in clothing and appearance, too. They wore their hair long and shaggy, and soon all over the world people started wearing the Beatles haircut.

Their songs seemed more tuneful and more exciting. They were also more attractive than many other performers. Soon, the group's following was like nothing anyone had ever seen: a hysteria that the newspapers called "Beatlemania" swept Britain and soon, America. It was practically impossible for the four young men to walk around in public without getting mobbed by fan girls.

In 1967 the Beatles directed a movie Magical Mystery Tour about themselves, in which they toured the English countryside in search of wonder, fun, and magic.

In 1970 the world-famous and world-loved Beatles separated. John Lennon was killed in 1980. George Harrisson died only last year.

Thirty-five years later, in 2005, the American entertainment industry magazine Variety named them the most iconic entertainers of the 20th century.

The Beatles gave a new sound to the music industry. The Beatles became the most successful pop-group the world has ever known.
They created a new kind of music, they created rock-n-roll. The world liked it and danced rock-n-roll to the Beatles' songs.

Beatles are the most commercially and musically successful band with more thаn a billion copies of their albums sold worldwide. They were big peace activists.

They sang about peace and love and happiness and reality which made their music all the more relatable. They gave us hope. They taught us about love and what it means to be happy. Though they didn't uncover the secret of life, they gave us a pretty good idea of it.
